The Faulkner County Personnel Committee voted to reaffirm Jessica Freeman as coroner and to forward several board appointments to the full court for final action.
County officials presented the reappointment of Jessica Freeman and asked the committee to affirm her service as coroner. The presiding judge said he had observed Freeman's organization and work, and described the coroner's office as important to how families are treated: "I've seen her work. I've seen her organization, and it's not something we focus on all the time in public, but it's of dire importance to each one of us that our family members are treated with respect," the judge said. The committee voted to send the reappointment to full court.
The committee also advanced a recommendation to appoint Daniel Hollinger to the Public Facilities Board; the judge described Hollinger as a civil engineer who practices locally and has relevant qualifications. The committee moved the matter to full court for final appointment.
Two applicants were recommended for openings on the Hilltop Volunteer Fire Department Board. The judge reported both applicants were recommended by the local fire chief and by the county director; the committee voted to forward the applications for Mr. Spears and Jason Booth to full court for confirmation.
Why it matters: The coroner's office handles death investigations and family notifications; board appointments determine oversight and advisory membership for county facilities and volunteer fire services. The committee's referral sends these personnel matters to the full court, which must confirm them.
