Faulkner CountyPersonnel Committee members voted to send two proposed ordinances that reclassify positions and adjust pay in county offices to the full court for consideration.
The committee advanced proposed ordinance 25-05, concerning two position reclassifications in the prosecuting attorney's office, and proposed ordinance 25-06, addressing two position title changes and salary adjustments in the county clerk's office. Committee members said both measures do not request additional county funding and are net-zero adjustments within existing line items.
The reclassification in proposed ordinance 25-05 would change a Trial Court Assistant position from a salary of $48,049.82 to a Trial Court Assistant level 3 with a salary of $52,049.81. The ordinance text also lists a District Court Coordinator position salary moving from $46,380 to $46,300.80. Miss Greif, a representative of the prosecuting attorney's office, told the committee the office is reallocating existing funds and is not requesting new money: "No new money request," she said.
Proposed ordinance 25-06 would reclassify a Passport Administrator/Deputy Clerk 2 to a Probate Deputy Clerk 3 and increase that position's salary from $46,763.81 to $49,000. A second change in the clerk's office would set a position salary to $50,788.81; the transcript's wording for the prior amount for that second position was unclear. The county clerk's presenter described the adjustments as "net 0" to the county budget and said the intent was to retain longer-tenured employees while filling other positions at a lower rate.
Committee members debated how the salary adjustments would be covered within current line items and confirmed they would not route the measures to Budget & Finance because no additional funds were requested. For proposed ordinance 25-05 the committee approved an amendment to remove a referral to Budget & Finance and instead send the ordinance to full court for consideration.
Why it matters: the ordinances change pay bands and titles for county employees in two offices and, if approved by the full court, will alter compensation and classification in the county payroll system. The committee recorded motions and seconded votes forwarding both proposals to the full court.
