The DEL VALLE ISD Board of Trustees voted 6-0 to approve the 2025–26 academic calendar, selecting Option A, during a regular meeting called to order at 6:15 p.m.
The calendar was presented by Dr. Mark Kent, who told trustees the document had been presented previously and that staff were available to answer questions. Trustee Elvia Guadion, who moved approval, acknowledged that many parents had favored a week-long break and said she supported the district’s recommendation while urging the board to revisit the alternative next year if needed. "I personally am going to go with the recommendation of the district but I would like us to consider that option next year depending on how this upcoming year comes," Guadion said.
Board President Wegner asked for questions; no public comment was recorded before the vote. Susanna Woodie seconded the motion. The board voted by raised hands; the motion passed, 6-0.
Trustees and staff did not discuss additional changes to the adopted calendar during the meeting. The board then moved on to personnel business and entered closed session.
