Smith summarized alternatives including maintaining the larger auxiliary board or forming a standalone senior commission; staff concluded option 1 best matched local practice and resource constraints.
During discussion board members asked that staff work with former auxiliary-board participants to explain the change and maintain opportunities for socialization and outreach. A board member said the town should ensure former auxiliary participants understand the new structure and continue to receive senior-focused programming. The board moved to adopt option 1 and instructed staff to return an amended charter showing the two additional seats as part of the next recruitment cycle.
