The Hillsboro School District Board of Directors approved a revised 2024–25 officer designation that adds Scott Harrison as a district financial officer authorized to act on behalf of the district.
Scott Harrison introduced himself as the district’s new financial officer; staff said he previously worked in the private sector and brings experience in finance, logistics and technology implementation. Scott told the board he and outgoing staff have been coordinating a phased handover so that “we'll continue to move things over to me in the next probably 4 to 6 weeks” while Michelle (the incumbent financial officer) remains in place during the transition.
Director Eric Lopez moved the designated action and Director Nancy Thomas seconded. The board then took a roll call vote. The public roll call recorded the following votes as “Aye”: Eric Lopez; Patrick McGuire; Nancy Thomas; Tony Ford; Mark Lawson. The chair declared the motion carried.
Staff outlined the scope of the designation autority, noting it covers financial operations, cash management, contract signatures and related duties that accompany the district financial officer position. Scott and Michelle told the board they intend to keep Michelle in place on current contracts and bargaining negotiations to avoid operational disruption and complete a natural handoff when appropriate.
The board took no additional related action during the work session.
