Applicant Rebecca Green testified that the sign was installed in 2024 and the business later found the original design insufficiently legible. “They realized it was not as legible as they had hoped,” Green said, adding the project is a re-facing of the existing projecting sign rather than a change to size or mount.
Commission discussion was brief; a motion to approve the COA as submitted passed after a second. The commission’s recommendation cited the North Short design guidelines, the general guidelines, and the projecting blade sign guidelines as the bases for approval.
The commission recorded that an additional piece of material—side-by-side photographs—was added to the submission after staff packet preparation; staff asked that any clarifications be submitted to HBO staff before a certificate is issued. No zoning variances or other legal exceptions were mentioned in the hearing record.
The certificate issuance is contingent on the applicant providing the requested clarifications to HBO staff prior to issuance.
