Fringe Road project expected to open Work Zone 1 by February; new traffic pattern in effect

Ritter said contractors are focusing on bringing Work Zone 1 (from 184th down to Sterling) to substantial completion and that, because of unsuitable materials found near the Sterling/Fringe Road intersection, crews must remove and replace material before fully opening the intersection. To relieve cross-zone travel constraints, the project temporarily re-opened northbound traffic through the substantially complete portions of the work zone. The revised traffic pattern has been in place since the Monday before the Jan. 15 meeting and was distributed to schools and public-services offices.
Ritter said the contractor plans to finish Work Zone 1 by February, complete Work Zone 2 (Sterling to Tiffany) by April and then move into phase 3. Public involvement lead Janet Delgado reported steady outreach with residents and businesses, including addressing a concern by a local dry cleaner, and said the site has been maintained in a clean, safe condition over the holidays.
Why it matters: The traffic changes are intended to preserve access across the corridor while construction continues. Council members asked about traffic at Tiffany and whether additional enforcement or deployment of the town's smart radar trailers is warranted.
