Braintree council unanimously appoints Anthony Kinahan as Planning Board alternate

Mayor Erin Joyce presented the nomination and said Kinahan “has an extensive background both in private and public sectors, and also, I think, a strong background, in sort of town financial, issues,” and asked the council to approve his appointment.
The appointment drew questions and endorsements from councilors about Kinahan’s experience with zoning and development. Councilor Reynolds, noting prior committee questions, asked Kinahan to summarize his relevant background. Kinahan said he had served on the finance committee and as a selectman in West Bridgewater for about seven years and described experience working “hand in hand with both planning board [and] zoning” on development projects, including negotiating roadway and intersection improvements and other public benefits with developers.
Councilors who spoke in favor said they welcomed his municipal finance and development experience. Councilor Bridal moved the appointment and Councilor Flaherty seconded the motion; the council voted unanimously to approve Kinahan as an alternate member. After the vote, the council congratulated Kinahan and moved on to the next agenda item.
