Lake County Board of Health approves $43,839.49 draw from ASRCO trust for 2025 blood-lead work

The Lake County Board of Health voted unanimously on Feb. 18 to approve drawing $43,839.49 from the ASRCO trust fund to support the county’s blood-lead work in 2025.
The amount, presented by Julianne Kelsey of the Lake County Public Health Agency, is smaller than last year because the agency will use remaining COVID-19 relief funds to cover most of the salary for the staff member who performs the blood-lead work. "Our code on request at the bottom is $43,839.49, to be very exact," Kelsey said during the meeting.
The board was brief in its discussion. Kelsey told members that the drawdown would cover roughly one quarter of that staff member’s salary plus general operating costs for the blood-lead program while other funds remain available. The agency also reduced the contingency line in the request, saying that if a large unplanned expense arises the board can reconvene and request additional funds at that time.
County staff discussed logistics for the transfer. Kyle, identified in the meeting as coordinating with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, said he would send a letter confirming that CDPHE approves the budget; Linda, a county staff member responsible for receiving the funds, confirmed she would provide wire instructions and watch for the transfer. Kelsey said the agency would notify the board when the transfer occurs and expected the process to begin within about two weeks.
The motion to draw $43,839.49 from the ASRCO trust fund for the 2025 blood-lead budget passed unanimously. Board members present recorded their votes in favor during the meeting.
The board concluded the short meeting by noting the prior work-session discussion on the item and thanking agency staff for preparing the request. The county will proceed with the transfer once CDPHE’s approval letter and wire instructions are exchanged.
