Bannock County commissioners voted to grant authority to the event center director to negotiate and sign sponsorship agreements for one-year terms and to use standardized contracts when possible.
Scott Carler, event director and business manager, told commissioners he had met with county staff to develop a standardized sponsorship form and requested authority to negotiate and accept sponsorship amounts and sign agreements. Carler said he would keep commissioners informed and typically takes a commissioner with him for large sponsorship negotiations.
Carler said he already has authority to sign full-fee agreements for some event-center uses and to buy concerts, and that agreements, once signed, would be handed to auditing for tracking and billing. The board discussed an annual review period (January or a 12-month season) so authority would be clear across any commission changes. Carler noted one large sponsor, ICCU, will be a multiyear contract.
A commissioner moved to grant Carler the requested authority. The motion passed by voice vote with all commissioners saying "aye."
