Commissioners authorize Idaho Power conduit work to support new building and storage tie-in

Bannock County commissioners voted to authorize an agreement with Idaho Power on Tuesday to replace an existing conduit and enable three-phase power to a new county building and a future storage container.
County facilities director Dan Kendall told the board the existing conduit and easement are insufficient to run new three-phase power to the building and that the proposed replacement route provides a convenient tie-in point for a storage container planned for the event center.
Kendall said contractors began digging the new route the day before the meeting and that the county will leave existing fiber and the old easement in place. He told commissioners the county is sliding the building 30 feet and that, when the buildings were put out to bid, contractors only stub out utilities five feet from the building. Kendall said the county budgeted for utilities and included a 10% contingency on the Headwaters contract; anticipated payments will come from those budgeted dollars.
A commissioner made a motion to sign the agreement with Idaho Power. The motion passed with all voting in favor.
The board did not provide additional written details of the Idaho Power contract at the meeting; specific contract amounts, start dates and contractor invoices were not specified during the public discussion.
