Montgomery County commissioners approved a five‑year water sales contract to continue the existing relationship and rates with the Town of Robins.
County Manager Frank Mace said the proposed contract maintains existing rates and allocations and would run for five years. He told commissioners Robins would be allocated up to 77,500,000 gallons under the contract; he added the town’s current annual use is substantially lower, around 6,300,000 gallons, according to his recent figures.
Commissioners asked staff about the county’s largest municipal customers; Mace said recent data showed the Town of Troy and other towns rank among the largest municipal customers, with residential customers forming the largest overall group. He also noted the county supplies two non‑municipal systems, the Woodrow community and Huron Forest.
The county manager described system capacity as roughly half of plant capacity and warned that a large new customer or development could require hydraulic analysis, booster pump or tank changes, and possible plant improvements. He said the county has commissioned an engineering study to analyze whether interconnections with two neighboring systems are feasible; one neighboring system has indicated mutual interest.
Commissioners moved and seconded the contract approval; the board voted to approve the five‑year contract as presented.
