The Dallas Landmark Commission denied without prejudice an application to replace all siding on the main house and accessory building at 5914 Victor Street in Junius Heights on Feb. 3, directing staff to work with the owner to remove existing vinyl cladding so the condition of underlying siding can be documented.
Staff recommended approval of No. 117 wood siding contingent on confirmation that the existing underlying siding is No. 117; however, at the time of the hearing staff and commissioners reported they had not seen complete documentation because a stop‑work order and permitting questions limited the site work. Commissioners noted the applicant had been cooperative and staff said the owner had the certificate in hand but building inspection had issued a stop work order so full documentation was not yet available.
Commissioner Reeves moved to deny without prejudice and asked staff to coordinate with the applicant and building inspection so vinyl siding could be removed, the underlying material photographed and measured, and the case returned to the commission with full documentation. The motion carried.
Staff indicated they expected the applicant to provide comprehensive photographs and that staff would confirm existing siding type and extent of necessary replacement before bringing a revised proposal back to the commission.
