The advocate said community donations are essential: “Truth is, our advocates couldn't do the work that they do with these victims if it weren't for the financial support from so many in the community, yourselves included,” and asked the board to renew its assistance in the amount of $6,000.
Supervisors did not take an immediate vote. One board member said the county is beginning its fiscal 2026 budgeting and that staff will follow up: “we're just starting our fiscal year budget for 2026. Just like the years prior, we'll get a hold of you guys once we decide.” The supervisor also asked staff whether a decision timeline might be in January: “I don't know, Courtney. You think it'll be Jan. 0 ish, when we decide kind of where the numbers sit for the fiscal year, and then we'll reach out to you guys and let you know.”
The board did not commit to a funding decision at the meeting. The request will be considered during the county’s FY2026 budget process and staff indicated they will contact the advocacy group after budget numbers are set.
