Design Review Commission approves amended public-art displays at 101 East Valley Blvd with conditions

The Design Review Commission on Jan. 27 approved an amendment to the public-art program for the mixed-use development at 101 East Valley Boulevard, allowing additional video display panels on a support column and along a rear wall so long as the panels follow the commission’s conditions.

The commission’s action followed staff presentations and comments from the applicant and the project team about how the existing and proposed display screens will be run. Sam (city planner) told the commission the project is a four-story, mixed-use building constructed on an approximately 86,000-square-foot parcel within the Valley Boulevard Specific Plan and that the amended public-art program would add panels to a support column and a blank rear wall; staff recommended instead that the extra panels be moved down to…
