Library to install 'Priscilla's Playwall' sensory panels as memorial; family and Friends split cost

Library staff told the Wylie Library Advisory Board they will install a memorial sensory activity wall called “Priscilla’s Playwall” to honor a former staff member who led toddler programming.
Staff described the planned features: a taller “forest activity wall” with a small goat figure (staff said the goat was Priscilla’s favorite animal), multiple 16-by-16 horizontal sensory panels mounted on rails so panels can slide in and be replaced, and decorative vinyl clouds and a sun. Staff said the panels are handmade in Germany and the supplier estimated a lead time of six to eight weeks.
Funding will be split between Priscilla’s family and the Friends of the Library, staff said; the family and friends are sharing the cost 50/50. Staff said they have ordered the panels and expect to schedule installation in the coming months; a reception with the family is likely in July once installation is complete.
Board members praised the plan as a fitting memorial that supports children’s programming. Staff said they plan a small plaque shaped like a cloud near the wall and are coordinating with the vendor who produced a previous plaque for a library reception. The item was presented as an informational project; no board vote was recorded at this meeting.
