Staff described a proposed change to facility use tied to a planned expansion of the Small Business Resource Center so it can include a dedicated homeschooling meeting space. Staff said the current room was gifted by the Economic Development Corporation with conditions, and making the space available for homeschoolers will require amending the library’s policy; staff said they will bring the proposed policy change to the board for approval.
Board members and staff discussed the speed of technological change and acknowledged some goals already underway that may take several years to complete. Staff said they intentionally kept some goals broad to allow pivoting if new opportunities arise. The board noted high usage of current services and the need to monitor capacity as some services become more heavily used.
No formal vote on the strategic plan occurred at this meeting; staff requested the board review the draft and raise questions or suggestions ahead of final adoption.
