Charles County delegation praises district night turnout, plans buses and venues for next year

CHARLES COUNTY, Md. — Delegation members on Feb. 7 praised the turnout at the delegation’s district night, thanked staff for event logistics and discussed planning changes for next year including arranging bus transportation and reserving larger House rooms.
Delegate Patterson opened the meeting by reporting strong attendance at the previous night’s event and asking members what — if anything — should change for next year. Several members said parking was difficult for attendees and suggested arranging one or more buses to bring constituents to the event. A member said other delegations have sponsored buses and recommended the group pursue county or district-sponsored bus transportation.
The chair said Diana Fennell had referred her to transportation contacts, and staff identified a contact they called “2h2 bus company” to help arrange buses if the delegation decides to do so earlier next year. Delegation staff were asked to work on logistics and forward contact information.
Delegation members also discussed holding next year’s event in the House building and reserving two adjoining rooms (reported as rooms 180 and 170) to accommodate the crowd. Members instructed staff to begin the reservation process early because of room size and scheduling constraints.
Delegation members commended staff — including Camille, Teron, Kara, Arielle and Shiron — for their work at the event and noted staff stayed late to help. They also discussed upcoming dates: the Charles County Chamber breakfast on March 3 (reported location: Grace’s) and District 27 night on Thursday, March 6. The delegation’s next meeting was scheduled for Feb. 21, immediately after the Southern Maryland delegation meeting.
No formal actions were taken at the meeting; items discussed were logistical and planning steps to improve attendance and venue capacity for next year’s district night.
