Fremont County announces job fair, multiple job postings and infrastructure closures; assessor's office to remodel this summer

Fremont County Administrator Tony Carrocci told commissioners the county currently has multiple job postings and will host a public job fair on Sunday, March 2.

Carrocci said open positions include a detention deputy and a patrol deputy at the Fremont County Sheriff's Office (deadline Feb. 25 and later this week, respectively), an office assistant in the veteran services office, a heavy equipment operator in the Department of Transportation, and a child welfare caseworker in the Department of Human Services. He directed interested applicants to the county website and provided an HR phone number for additional information.

The county will host a job fair at the Pathfinder Park Event Center on Sunday, March 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Carrocci said. He said community members can meet recruiters, and that food trucks will be available.

Carrocci also announced infrastructure closures: County Road 120 bridge (east of the cement plant) is closed indefinitely as of February due to critical damage with no estimated reopening date; Elm Avenue (from the traffic circle west to County Road 143) is closed for utility work through Feb. 28; and Grand Avenue at Ash Street will be closed for a culvert replacement on specified weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Detours and barricades are in place, and the county asked motorists to plan alternate routes.

Carrocci said the assessor's office plans a remodel beginning in July and lasting approximately three months that will include asbestos abatement; staff are working to ensure public accessibility while the remodel proceeds and noted many records remain available online. He said more details will be released as plans develop.
