At its Dec. 19 meeting the Town of Lakeville Community Preservation Committee received project updates from liaisons, including a schedule for museum work and a delayed parks review, and approved posting project photos on the town website.
A liaison reported the contractor for the Lakeville Historical Museum expects to start major work in early January but had been pulled away by a family funeral. The liaison said the contractor will bring specialty equipment and "like, a crane or something there," which contributes to project cost, and that louvers removed from the belfry were taken off-site for work. "He's going to start it next month," the liaison said; the committee noted weather could affect the January schedule.
Park department work remains delayed pending meetings among park staff and user groups; the parks liaison said the department would meet with stakeholders in January or February. Committee members acknowledged seasonal constraints and that the off-season should allow the necessary meetings. One member noted the park liaison reported roughly 12 months remain on the associated project timeline.
The committee also reviewed a photo of a sign acknowledging Community Preservation funding at the historical museum. Members agreed to begin posting images of completed and ongoing CPA-funded work to the town website. There was a brief discussion about whether the signage complied with town sign bylaws; members decided to post photos but to note compliance issues if and when signs are replaced.
Ending: The committee set the next meeting for Jan. 16, 2025, and instructed liaisons to provide status updates on projects and to prepare materials for the public hearing publicity schedule.
