Board member Adamio requested a future presentation after noting a speaker at the SB conference described how another district had integrated AI into coursework. Adamio asked the district to “detail that and see if we're actually utilizing it as part of our curriculum for the district,” and also raised a long‑standing interest in arranging hands‑on agricultural experiences for students in the district’s Desert View program, including possible work at a nearby reservation co‑op.
Board member Quintero asked for information on the process for students who choose to leave Sunnyside or Desert View and enroll in the STAR program, seeking clarity on eligibility and transfer steps.
District staff member Gaston responded that staff would provide updates on all three requests, saying, “we can definitely do give you an update on all 3 of those.” The board did not take formal votes on those requests; they were recorded as requests for future agenda items and staff updates rather than binding actions.
Other remarks during the meeting included brief board comments and acknowledgments of upcoming senior‑night events and recent athletic accomplishments at Sunnyside High School.
