The Waukesha City Board of Public Works on Jan. 9 approved a revised two-party state municipal agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation that raises the city's anticipated reimbursement for a Local Road Improvement Program supplemental grant from $400,000 to $1,555,000 for North University Drive between Summit and Northview.
City staff said the DOT notified the city in November 2024 that another project had dropped out of funding consideration and asked whether Waukesha would accept the additional funds. Absolutely, we'll take it, a staff member told the board. The staff recommendation was to accept the larger award and proceed with the revised agreement.
The board heard that University Drive reconstruction is currently slated for 2028 and that the city is coordinating with county and community development staff on future plans for the property adjacent to the corridor. Staff also noted the project must be completed and the costs reimbursed by June 30, 2029.
The motion to approve the revised agreement was moved and seconded; the board recorded the motion as carrying by recorded ayes. The city did not provide additional construction contract details or a revised project budget in the discussion.
Because the funding change is a supplemental DOT reimbursement, staff said the primary change to the agreement is the increased reimbursement amount. No amendments or conditions were recorded in the meeting minutes.
