Board member Carolina told the Greencastle-Antrim School District Board on Feb. 20 that she will recommend keeping the tax-collector compensation at $2.75 per bill for the next four-year cycle. Carolina said the workload for tax collectors has been reduced—mailing and processing of bills is now handled by another entity—so collectors supported leaving the fee unchanged.
Carolina said she will bring the recommendation to approve the Franklin County Area Tax Bureau operating budget at the next meeting. She noted the tax bureau does countywide collection of earned-income and local-services taxes for school districts and municipalities and that the proposed budget includes funds for new equipment.
Separately, staff shared a draft driving-school contract the district renews annually; the driving-school program operates on campus, which staff described as a convenience for families and a local alternative to off-site providers such as PennDOT. The driving-school contract will be placed on a future agenda for board approval.
No formal votes on the tax-collector fee, tax bureau budget or driving-school contract were recorded during the Feb. 20 meeting; Carolina indicated she will recommend approval of those items at the next board meeting.
