Board reviews draft artificial-intelligence policy for classrooms, asks for two-week feedback window

District staff presented a draft artificial-intelligence (AI) policy to the Greencastle-Antrim School District Board on Feb. 20 and asked members, curriculum teams and the public to review the document and submit questions or suggested edits before the next meeting.
Staff said the draft draws on model policies recommended by the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA) and input from a technical-attorney team, and that high school English teachers and the ELA curriculum-writing team had been involved because concerns arose in curriculum implementation. The policy is intended to be followed by administrative regulations that will provide grade-level and course-specific guidance for use of AI tools in elementary, middle and high school classrooms.
Board members were urged to send questions to staff within the next two weeks so the administration can respond and prepare a second and final reading for approval at the next meeting. Staff said the policy is expected to evolve over time as technology and classroom practice change.
