On finance and audit items, the board approved minutes of the Nov. 7, 2024 meeting and authorized payment of regular bills described in the agenda as totaling $2,000,000. The treasurer reported an ending balance as of Oct. 31, 2024 of $108,625.51 after receipts, investments and disbursements were tallied; the board approved the treasurer's report by voice vote.
Under personnel, the board approved bundled resignations, retirements and leaves (personnel section 9, items A–E) and bundled employment recommendations (section 10, items A, C, D, E and F). The board separately approved the employment of Megan Shemasky as high school office secretary effective upon release from her current employer, pending required clearances, with wages and benefits per the VAESPA SPA contract.
The board approved multiple conference, athletics and field-trip items; employed Keegan Watson as a game manager effective Dec. 6, 2024, and approved several bus drivers and aides for the 2024–25 school year (Michael Nelson, Rachel Baron, Jennifer Center). The district agreed to serve as host site for the Girls on the Run program for grades 3–8 at no cost to the district.
Business and capital items included approval of budgetary transfers to close the 2023–24 fiscal year, and a stadium entrance change order No. 1 with Raffle Construction to complete asphalt milling and paving in the amount of $9,951.28 to be paid from the capital projects fund.
The board approved an agreement with Soaring Heights School for special education services for the 2024–25 school year and approved revised policies 813 and 818 and new policies 810.4 and 815.1 as listed on the agenda. The board also approved renewal of an agreement with the Derry Area Education Association for early dismissals for the 2024–25 school year.
The board approved hearing-waiver memoranda for student discipline incidents numbered 272, 273 and 274 dated Nov. 9, 2024, and set meeting dates for the 2025 calendar (moving to mostly first and third Thursdays of the month). A later agenda item to renew the Dairy Borough police contract was tabled for further negotiation.
