One commissioner emphasized the commission's unique connection to primary care access through its ex-officio members and asked for clarity about whether the commission should pivot more heavily toward social determinants of health (SDOH) or retain stronger emphasis on primary-care access and service delivery. Staff and ex-officio members said the CHIP was produced through community engagement and that many strategies are implemented by partner organizations; they suggested the commission could leverage the CHIP to support budget recommendations and focus work-group efforts.
Commissioners recommended restructuring working groups to use the CHIP's goals and objectives as a guide, reach out to partner organizations named in the CHIP and pursue targeted research or mini-reports to inform recommendations. Staff and ex-officio members agreed to share CHIP-related dashboards, reports and upcoming community budget conversations and to coordinate with the commission on next steps. No formal vote was taken; commissioners asked staff to return with details on working-group structure and relevant partner contacts.
