Ada County treasurer: about 90% of property taxes collected; 2% late charge assessed Dec. 20

Ada County Treasurer (identified in the record as Ira) told the Board of Commissioners on Dec. 23 that the county had collected about 90% of property tax payments by the Dec. 20 due date and that staff are continuing to process payments.
The treasurer said that, consistent with Idaho law, a 2% late charge was assessed on Friday night for late payments. The county will review payments as they are received, and if a mailed or delivered payment was postmarked or otherwise stamped as timely, the treasurer said staff will remove the 2% late charge.
The treasurer said the office plans to remit collected tax payments to taxing districts in mid-January. The board made no changes to the penalty process during the meeting.
No dollar totals for the outstanding balance were provided during the update. The treasurer also noted the office would process tax cancellations/adjustments later in the week as listed on the agenda.
