Governor authorizes review of disaster relief for Isanti County flooding; county seeks local guidance

It states, in part, “Based upon supporting documents provided to me by the Department of Public Safety's Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, I have determined that damage in certain areas of Isanti County caused by flooding and thunderstorms on 08/26/2024 is of sufficient severity and magnitude to warrant the use of disaster assistance contingency fund as described in Minnesota statutes 12, chapter 12 b.”
Commissioners asked for clarification about the dollar amount, timing of the funds and which local jurisdictions are eligible. County staff requested that Clint and Maxon from the division attend the next board meeting to explain eligibility criteria, the disbursement timeline and how townships and cities should apply for assistance. Commissioners noted Bradford Township and parts of the City of Isanti were among the affected areas and asked staff to notify townships about point‑of‑contact information for state assistance.
