Loretta Jones addressed the board during public comment on Feb. 10 to report that her daughter has not been picked up by the district’s bus route despite work the family says made the turnaround usable.
Jones said the road near her house is now more than a half-mile and that her brother cleared and widened the prior bus turnaround so multiple cars could fit. She said county and town officials had inspected the site and found no issue, but that district transportation staff (she named Kent and Justin) had not restored pickup. Jones said she had called repeatedly for updates and asked the board to explain why her daughter remained unserved.
Superintendent Dustin Gering responded that he had Jones’s phone number and would call her to follow up. The board did not take immediate action during the meeting; the item was recorded for staff follow-up with transportation and parent contact.
