Tom Feller, director of Continuous Improvement, told the board that five district schools operate under the restart model and that two schools—Falkland and Northwest—were eligible this year for the state—s reauthorization review. Feller said restart-model schools receive specific flexibilities, primarily budget flexibility used to provide salary supplements and additional staffing or supplies.
Feller said each school submitted an annual self-report, the district submitted a self-reflection, and staff from Human Resources, curriculum and the superintendent reviewed and signed off on the materials before submitting them to the state. He reported the state provided feedback and that one school elected to submit additional metrics aligned with its goals.
The board voted to approve continued authorization for the two eligible schools so the superintendent could complete the state submission. A motion to approve the district recommendation passed with no recorded opposition in the transcript; the board chair called for the vote and announced approval.
Feller said the district will proceed with the final submission to the state following the board—s approval.
