The City of Ocala's historic preservation review panel approved an after‑the‑fact Certificate of Appropriateness for a driveway at 705 Southeast Fourth Street on a unanimous voice vote.
Planning staff presented the application as case file 171COA24‑3, saying the addition — a driveway with gray granite rock at the northern portion and concrete at the southern portion, bordered by 6x6 pressure‑treated landscaping beams — meets the board's COA criteria for design and the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation. The staff presentation described the property as a 1925 bungalow/classical structure and said the driveway leads to an accessory structure on the lot.
The petitioner, Matt Growe, identified himself at the podium and offered no additional details beyond the staff presentation, saying he was available to answer questions. After a brief board discussion, a member moved to approve the staff recommendation under Section 94‑82(g) of the City's code; the motion was seconded and approved on a voice vote. The board's chair announced, "All those in favor? Aye. Motion carried."
The COA is effective immediately; the board noted procedural requirements for COAs generally (staff later reminded applicants that COAs are valid for six months from issuance and projects must start within that period or request an extension).
