During the Dec. 17 Hearing of Visitors, resident Ethan Herring described a series of personal disputes with city property inspections and neighborhood housing work, and urged the council to review actions involving his family’s property.
Herring told the council he grew up in East Waco and recounted events he said began in 2011 and involved a house condemnation and later interactions with city employees and contractors. He said his mother paid to retain property that he later said had been torn down, and he described disagreements with inspectors and delays that he said cost him money.
Herring also asserted that he found people on a property who had been deported previously and said he reported that to a manager; he further described concerns about contractor selection and site-plan work. He concluded his remarks by asking the council to review the matters he raised.
Mayor and council noted the speaker’s concerns, reminded the public that the council may not engage in extended discussion during Hearing of Visitors, and said staff would look into the issues and follow up as appropriate. No formal action was taken during the meeting.
