Chief Gibson presented the police department’s annual military equipment report required by state law and the Mount Shasta Municipal Code on Feb. 24.
Gibson said the department currently possesses six firearms that have been in the department’s inventory since the current chief’s tenure. "Currently, all 6 weapons are locked up in a safe. None of them are in use," Gibson said. He reported no complaints and said there are no plans to acquire additional military equipment; the department has been trying to return surplus items and will continue to store them securely.
The report was presented in public and received without further public comment or council action.
