The Schererville Town Council voted unanimously Dec. 30 to approve a revised professional services agreement with Reardon Consultant Services and American StructurePoint Inc., increasing the contract from $87,500 to $95,000 to add Roman Park to the scope of work related to the Indiana Speedway area.
Why it matters: The amendment expands the consultant's scope to include additional park-related design or planning work, which the council requested during prior discussions. Including Roman Park in the study could affect future budget and construction planning for that park parcel.
Town Manager Jim Gorman said the agreement had appeared on the Dec. 3 agenda and was updated to include Roman Park after a council member requested it. "We wanted, 1 of the councilmen wanted Roman Park included, and, that was this agreement is updated to include that project or that, that parcel," Gorman said. Reardon, the consultant, attended the meeting; no substantive questions were raised at the Dec. 30 session. The motion to approve passed 5-0.
The increase of $7,500 was described as the cost to include Roman Park in the consultant team's professional services. The council thanked the consultant for attending and moved forward with the amended contract.
