The Oakland County Board of Commissioners approved an amendment to the county contract with Children's Village to reduce the facility—s contracted emergency shelter bed capacity from 10 beds to 8 beds and to change the guaranteed-payment level to six beds.
County staff said Children's Village had asked the Department of Health and Human Services (DHS) to reduce the contract capacity because the program average census "hovers around 8" and the smaller capacity would allow staff to address trauma and provide a safer environment. County staff said DHS agreed to the proposed change. "We are very comfortable making this change," the Children's Village representative said.
The board voted 6-0 to approve the contract amendment.
