Greer schedules Feb. 14 groundbreaking for public safety training facility; South Tiger River Greenway planning continues

City Administrator Andy Holzheimer told the Greer City Council on Jan. 28, 2025, that the city will hold a groundbreaking for a public safety training facility on Feb. 14 at 10 a.m. He also said Parks, Recreation and Tourism staff recently held a public meeting about the multi-phase South Tiger River Greenway project and that more information is available on the city's Facebook page.
Holzheimer described the public-safety training facility groundbreaking as a council-scheduled event and asked members to mark their calendars. He also praised the fire department’s role in a regional community risk reduction initiative, calling the department proactive in prevention as well as emergency response.
The administrator noted the chamber-hosted "State of the City" panel that will include the mayor, the administrator and Reno Deaton as an opportunity for residents to receive an update on city activities. He closed by reminding citizens to report debris on county or state roads to the appropriate authorities and that the city's public services department can direct callers to state and county contacts when necessary.
