The Sandy City Planning Commission on Oct. 27 voted unanimously to recommend that the City Council annex a roughly 5-acre portion of the FBAC Development 2 and zone it ID (industrial), based on findings in the staff report.
Jake Warner, the commission's long-range planning manager, told commissioners the item was a follow-up to a 25-acre annexation completed last year and that the additional 5-acre parcel adjusts which portion the developer plans to sell. Warner said the property is split between two county zones (A-2 residential and M-1 industrial in the county) and that staff recommends industrial zoning for the new five-acre piece based on the proposed uses and surrounding land uses.
No applicant or public speakers appeared at the hearing, and the commission moved directly to a recommendation. The vote was recorded by roll call and was unanimous in favor.
The commission recorded the motion'and-roll-call votes on the record; all seven voting members present supported forwarding a positive recommendation to the City Council. The staff report and four findings on which the commission relied are in the public meeting packet.
