The improvements include updated swings, slides, benches and other amenities meant to refresh the park after more than two decades, a presenter said. "The new year is starting off with a new look at Sycamore Park in Grand Prairie. The park is debuting its first upgraded 24 years with new playground equipment, benches, and other amenities," the presenter said.
The funding came from Dallas County. The announcement said the upgrades are part of a city–county partnership to improve local parks; no additional funding sources or future project phases were specified in the remarks recorded in the meeting transcript.
County leadership framed the work as part of a broader emphasis on green spaces. "Some of my legacy has been green spaces. Why? Because green spaces is what makes a community," the county commissioner said, adding that parks and trails help families and neighborhoods.
