Angola council opens bids for Community Crossing project, delegates award decision

The Angola Common Council met in special session Monday, Feb. 10, and opened bids for Community Crossing Project No. 20 24 2, recording two offers and voting to leave the contract award to the most responsible and responsive bidder.
The council recorded two bids for the Community Crossing project: API for $1,811,300.00 and Brooks for $1,894,929.00. After the bids were read aloud, the presiding officer said, “I will leave in this to the most responsible and the responsive bidder,” and a council member seconded the motion. The motion carried on a voice vote; the ayes were recorded with no opposition reported.
The council also noted it would not open bids for the Procurement Infrastructure Improvement Project, divisions 1 through 4, during the special meeting. Earlier in the session the council deferred two items listed under unfinished business and did not discuss them at this meeting.
Council members present at the start of the meeting were Council member Coffey, Council member Olson, Council member Sharpie, Council member Dowell and Council member McTurbin. The clerk conducted a roll call at the meeting opening.
The council scheduled upcoming meetings: a regular meeting on Monday, Feb. 17, and discussed holding another special meeting on Feb. 24; the council noted Feb. 17 is a holiday but said the city would still meet on that date.
Votes at the meeting were by voice; no roll-call vote totals for individual members were recorded in the transcript of the special meeting.
