Polk County commissioners approve contracts, equipment purchases and add land to County Ditch 111

Polk County commissioners approved multiple motions at the Feb. 4 meeting covering technology and building maintenance contracts, equipment purchases, an out‑of‑state travel request, vehicle disposition and a public hearing outcome to add land to a county ditch.

- County Ditch 111 public hearing and benefit addition: In a public hearing the board considered a petition to add lands (two 40‑acre parcels in the north half of the southwest quarter of Section 7, Township 149 Range 42 West, Badger Township) into the benefited area of County Ditch 111 because recent drain‑tiling has shifted the drainage into that ditch. The board opened the hearing, heard staff and two township representatives, closed the hearing and approved adding the two parcels to the ditch's benefited area. Staff told the board the added parcels were assigned the same benefit rate used across the ditch system ($40 per 40‑acre unit) and that landowners had been notified per state statute.
