Sheriff’s remodel moves toward guaranteed maximum price; commissioners told final numbers coming in March

Rockwall County commissioners heard an update on the sheriff’s office remodel project and were told staff are working with the construction manager at risk to finalize cost, scope and value-engineering options ahead of an anticipated guaranteed maximum price submission.
Commissioner Stacy and project staff said the design team will deliver 90% construction documents from Park Hill this week, followed by a page-turn review to move to the final set of documents ahead of the March 11 court meeting when the GMP is expected. Staff described the current work as value engineering and cost/scope refinement; they said that once the GMP is finalized the project should be ready to break ground.
No formal vote was required for the update. Commissioners requested continued coordination between the project team and the court and were told staff will return with the finalized GMP and any required contract actions.
