Brooke Minto, who identified herself as director of the Columbus Museum and Bar’s second campus, said the change would allow "more access to the terrace for the public when we have exhibitions and events." Staff recommended approval, noting the alteration has a minimal visual impact from the street and the opening’s height would not change; the transom above the opening will remain.
Commissioners discussed that the window being altered is a non-historic aluminum replacement and that the proposed change would not destroy distinguishing historic materials. Commissioners asked that the rationale for approving this particular opening (third-floor location, non-historic material, and minimal visibility from the street) be stated in the motion to guide future decisions.
A motion to approve application COA2500044 for 632 Park Street passed by voice vote. The commission requested final elevation drawings showing the doors unobstructed by the railing for stamping, and staff said clarifications should be submitted to HBO staff before issuance of the certificate.
