Brownsburg redevelopment commission elects 2025 officers, schedules joint meetings with council and schools

BROWNSBURG, Ind. — The Town of Brownsburg Redevelopment Commission on Feb. 4 elected Al Salzman president, C.J. Boswell vice president and Victoria Smith secretary for 2025 and approved its Nov. 7, 2024, special-meeting minutes by voice vote.
The commission’s officer selections followed discussion of a recent state requirement affecting redevelopment commission appointments that limits how president and vice president can be chosen based on who appointed them. Commissioners then moved through routine business and noted two upcoming joint meetings: a council/boards-and-commissions session scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. in the council room, and a separate joint meeting with the school board on Feb. 24.
The elections came after commissioners clarified appointment sources for members. Commissioners also approved the Nov. 7 meeting minutes and carried a motion to adjourn the meeting. Individual roll-call tallies were not recorded in the minutes; votes were taken by voice and noted as carried.
Town staff member Mr. Pierce told the commission, "We have a joint town council board and commission meeting scheduled for this Thursday at 6PM. Meeting will take place in the council room here. Similar to last year, it'll just be kind of an overview of how all the different groups work together." He added department heads would provide brief overviews of their work with boards and commissions.
Shane Hacker, speaking for the school side, said the school corporation continues to grow, with new facilities at the high school coming online for the 2025–26 school year. "Doctor Jessup's doing an excellent job in her role as superintendent," Hacker said, and said the district hopes to host a grand-opening tour around July after new spaces open.
No members of the public offered comments on the Feb. 4 agenda, and no substantive policy items or contract awards were introduced at the meeting. The commission adjourned after completing the agenda.
