St. Clair County Commission approves property purchase, advertises jail sale, accepts subdivision roads and authorizes routine contracts

St. Clair County commissioners on July 8 approved a series of routine and substantive measures, including authorization to market the county jail property for sale, ratification of a $170,000 purchase of property at 1820 Second Avenue North in Pell City, acceptance of roads in the Stonewood Farm subdivision for county maintenance, and approval to pursue safety funding through Alabama Department of Transportation’s H triple R grant program.

Kyle (staff member) told commissioners the county would advertise the Pell City jail property “for sale” with a proposed deadline of Sept. 9 but reserving the right to enter a contract earlier if an acceptable offer arrives; staff proposed broad notice through the local Realtors association, county website, courthouse postings and a for-sale sign at the site.
