The Architecture Review Board approved final plans on June 26 for a new 60-by-25-foot metal garage at 178 North Palafox Street with stucco textured wall panels, a 5‑E crimp metal roof and a row of four uniform garage doors, subject to a few detailing requests.
Owner Michael Caro told the board the design was revised to lower the building height and to align parapet height with an adjacent fronting structure. Board members commended changes, noted improved sight lines for second-floor windows on the neighboring building, and suggested a continuous canopy over the row of doors with supporting brackets aligned to the building columns. One member recommended indirect uplighting into a light-colored canopy to get a broad, soft lighting effect.
The board approved the design as submitted with the following conditions: provide a continuous canopy aligned to structural columns, space canopy brackets to align with columns and bollards, and submit lighting for staff abbreviated review. The applicant agreed to the conditions and to add lighting and bollard coordination.
