Lansdale wastewater plant reports positive wet test; electrical component delay pushes completion estimate

Wastewater Treatment staff informed the council on July 16 that the plant eration upgrade has made physical progress but faces an electrical-equipment delivery delay.
The project team has set all five blower packages in place, but the electrical switchgear/equipment tied to those blowers is delayed and is not expected to arrive until October, the wastewater representative told council. Because of that delay, staff will ask council for a time extension for substantial and final completion of the aeration project.
The department also reported positive results from recent "wet testing," which evaluates treated effluent—or its ability to support aquatic reproduction; staff characterized the wet-test numbers as encouraging and said they were not notified of any acute failures. The wastewater speaker encouraged council members to visit the plant to see demonstration lawn-to-meadow initiatives led by the department chemist.
Council was advised the Edgemont and Third preconstruction meeting has occurred and related sanitary and storm work is scheduled to begin in August, coordinated with North Penn Water Authority.
