Sandpoint arts commission delays vice-chair election, seeks applicants to fill vacancies

With two vacancies and the vice-chair post open following a resignation, the commission voted to table election of a vice chair until more members can participate and encouraged community members to apply.
At the July 8 meeting the Sandpoint Arts, Culture and Historic Preservation Commission agreed to postpone election of a vice chair after the commission reported two open seats and one current applicant.
Members said former vice chair Keeley had resigned, leaving the post vacant. The commission reported it currently has four seated members present and two vacancies; officials said they have received one application so far. Commissioners agreed to table the vice-chair election until additional applicants are appointed or present, citing a desire to include new and returning members in the selection.
The commission encouraged community members interested in serving to apply through the city’s commission-application page. Staff said they would seek to have prospective members—named in conversation as Dara and others—on board before voting on vice chair at a subsequent meeting.
No formal vote was held on appointments at the July 8 meeting; the item was deferred to a future agenda.
