Clute City Council unanimously approves May election ordinances, sets Feb. 13 land-use hearings

Clute City Council on Jan. 23, 2025, unanimously approved two ordinances calling the city’s May 3, 2025, elections, authorized a joint-election agreement with Brazoria County and set joint public hearing dates on Feb. 13 for two land-use items.
The council adopted Ordinance No. 2025-03 calling a general election on May 3, 2025, for an at-large municipal judge and for council positions B and D, and Ordinance No. 2025-04 calling a charter amendment election on the same date. The council also approved Resolution No. 02-2025 to hold the city election jointly with other Brazoria County entities and authorized the mayor and city clerk to execute a joint election agreement and contract for election services with the Brazoria County clerk.
In land-use business the council approved Resolution No. 03-2025, accepting the Planning and Zoning Commission recommendation to approve a preliminary replat of property commonly described as 109 East Plantation Drive and setting a joint public hearing for a final plat on Feb. 13, 2025, at 7 p.m. The council also set a joint public hearing for Feb. 13, 2025, at 7 p.m. to consider a specific-use permit request to expand a mobile home park at 310 South Highway 288 B by 10 additional spaces.
Other routine business approved without discussion included the consent agenda, which covered minutes of the Jan. 9, 2025 joint public hearing and regular council meeting and the Brazoria County Library branch meeting area policy. The meeting record shows all votes on the listed ordinances, resolutions and the consent agenda were unanimous.
