At the Feb. 20 Waukesha Board of Public Works meeting, staff updated the board on operational matters including the citywide rollout of new garbage and recycling carts and current bidding activity for multiple public-works projects.
Public-works staff reported contractors have delivered about 5,000 of an estimated 20,000 new carts so far, working from the southeast part of the city and moving toward the southwest. Staff estimated the full delivery will take about five weeks. Residents were reminded to continue using their old carts through their last pickup in March; the new carts will begin use in April when the city’s new contract for collection begins.
Staff also said three projects are currently out to bid: concrete pavement patching; the traffic signal project identified in packet materials as Sunset Drive and Oakdale Drive (staff clarified the Sunset project that involves the town is the Sunset and Prairie project); and the Clean Water Plant Phase 3 improvements project.
There was no substantive debate recorded in the transcript about these operational items; the board moved to adjourn following the reports.
