Turning Point Residential donates $25,000 to Canfield Schools robotics; board and students honored

Turning Point Residential presented a $25,000 donation to Canfield Schools' robotics program during the Jan. 8 Canfield Local School District Board of Education meeting, and the board recognized student achievement and board members as part of January's School Board Recognition Month.
The donor representative said the contribution was intended to support the school district's robotics activities and announced, "present the Canfield Schools with the $25,000 check." Superintendent Noel thanked the donor and welcomed the family to Canfield, noting the district appreciates outside support for student activities.
Canfield High School Principal Mark Potts introduced January's Rotary Club student of the month, Lauren Smallwood, and praised her school and extracurricular involvement. Hilltop Elementary Principal Michael Flood introduced Addison Campbell as that school’s student honoree. The board also recognized other student achievements, including a fourth-grade student, "Mac," whom a teacher, Mrs. Benson, described as "one of the hardest working students" and a top performer in a national First in Math competition.
The board accepted the donation as part of a donations consent item that included multiple gifts from community members and organizations; Treasurer Jen Prince read the monthly donation list and confirmed Turning Point Residential was added as an addendum. The total cash donations for the month, after adding Turning Point Residential’s $25,000 gift, was stated as $28,409.96.
Board members and administrators thanked donors and volunteers and noted the district will apply the funds toward robotics equipment and programming. The board also marked January as School Board Recognition Month and presented tokens of appreciation to members for their service.
Turning Point Residential’s gift will be administered through the district’s normal donation acceptance and accounting processes; the motion to accept the donations with the addendum passed on a roll-call vote with all five board members voting yes.
